A rescued farm goat who sleeps in a human bed and has become a beloved local icon in the coastal suburb of Freshwater is now relying on the community to fund his life-saving emergency surgery.
Long before turning heads on suburban footpaths, Billy faced severe hardship. Discovered as a young kid after being neglected, he suffered from a serious leg infection and required blood transfusions. His mother was found tied to a fence with a broken leg and could not feed him, later needing to be euthanised due to her poor condition.
Following his rescue, a temporary carer reached out to the Glover family, who have dedicated their property to rehabilitating animals. The family farm in Oxford Falls became a safe haven for Billy, where he quickly transitioned from a frightened animal into a confident companion.
Rather than staying outside, Billy integrated fully into household routines. He spends his time watching television on the lounge, cuddling in bed, and joining his owners on regular walks through Freshwater and Curl Curl.

Billy had to undergo emergency surgery at a veterinary hospital after specialists found stones in his bladder. While the procedure was successful and he is recovering well, the medical bills surpassed seven thousand dollars.
Because the Glovers still dedicate their time and resources to rehabilitating other sick animals, ranging from dairy calves to alpacas, this unexpected medical crisis has stretched their finances.
